'24-'25 Product Updates: Salomon

Salomon has some significant changes for 2024-2025, with the most noteworthy being the transformation of their high-end boot lineup. Before we delve into footwear, let's first take a look at some updates with Salomon's skis.

Next year's skis will receive updated graphics, but the most significant change is the introduction of binding plates on the S/Lab line. While most brands have equipped their in-track skis with some sort of mounting plate going back to the introduction of Rottefella's NIS plates in 2005, the S/Lab was the final major holdout for screw-mounted bindings. Moving forward, all S/Lab skis will come ready to accept a Prolink Shift Race binding—drilling holes and turning screws will soon be a thing of the past. It is also noteworthy that now all skis will have some sort of moveable binding system, which allows precise fine-tuning of the skis performance based on where the skis are loaded.

Now for the big stuff: Salomon is bringing the BOA Fit System to the S/Lab and S/Race boots. This development is a significant shift for Salomon, which has used its proprietary Quicklace system across most of its nordic boots for decades. However, the change isn't a huge surprise, as BOA has taken alpine and alpine touring footwear by storm over the last few years. Invented just up the road from BNS, in Steamboat Springs, the BOA Fit System delivers a micro-adjustable and super-precise foothold that nordic skiers will love.

Along with the BOA System, Salomon continues to move forward with their unique and innovative boot liners. Removable and customizable with heat molding, the liners are available in both the S/Lab and S/Race lines. While not as flashy as a BOA knob outside the boot, Salomon's boot liners have been a favorite feature of ours for the last several years. Not only does a custom-formed liner help with comfort and precision fit, but they also do a great job keeping feet warm!

Finally, staying in the theme of customizability, the carbon cuff featured on next year's S/Lab and S/Race boots can be removed or added to any boot in the lineup. If you like the flexibility of a cuffless skate boot, no problem! Need extra ankle support for your classic boots? Salomon has you covered. Adding a cuff to classic boots is also an excellent option for skiathlon events; there is no need to compromise performance or own a skiathlon-specific boot.

Overall, Salomon will again have a very solid lineup across the board next season, with its innovative and historically strong footwear leading the way.
